Police say teens admit taking, shooting rifle
 

Blooming Grove – Two teens hauled into the police station for firing a .22-caliber rifle in
Mountain Lodge Park ended up confessing to breaking into a neighborhood house and
stealing the weapon, Blooming Grove police said yesterday.
The boys, ages 16 and 17, were firing rounds near homes in the neighborhood Tuesday
afternoon, police said. While at the police station, the two admitted to stealing the gun
and a woman’s gold ring from a home on Arcadia Trail, Detective Brett Weeden said.
The two were arrested and charged with second-degree burglary and criminal possession
of stolen property, the rifle, both felonies. The 16-year-old was also charged with fifth
-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a misdemeanor. The 17-year-old was
charged with shooting within 500 feet of a residence, a misdemeanor.
The boys remain in Orange County Jail on $5,000 bail and are scheduled to appear Friday
in Blooming Grove Town Court.
