On December 30, 1997 Blooming Grove Police
responded to a call of shots
fired from a house on Felter Hill Road. Upon arriving at the reporting
person's
residence, Officer Marty Post and Jeff Straut learned that a domestic
dispute
had taken place between a man and his wife. The wife explained to the
officers
that she fled to the neighbor's residence after the argument. She told the
officers that her husband followed her to the neighbor's house and after
attempting to gain entry returned home. Shortly thereafter gun shots could
be
heard coming from the couple's residence. With the assistance of area
police
departments, the house was kept under surveillance as both Blooming Grove
Officers entered the residence and arrested the woman's husband for felony
reckless endangerment along with several other crimes. An investigation
revealed that he had fired a high powered rifle eleven times at a pillow
and
into the headboard of the bed where he and his wife slept. The couple's
two
children were also in the home at the time of the shooting.
