Blooming Grove

Teens charged with stealing weapons

Two local teenagers have been charged with stealing weapons from a Blooming Grove home and
vandalizing it during a party last weekend.
Chase Williams, 18, and a 16-year-old male are accused of taking an AR-15 assault rifle,
a safe containing two loaded hand guns, and other items from a home on Judson Lane on Aug. 1,
Blooming Grove Detective Brett Weeden said yesterday.
The two were among a group of youths partying at the house while the adults
were away for the weekend. The shindig, which began the night of July 31 and continued
into the next day, became unruly sometime after midnight.
The pillaging and vandalizing took place early in the morning on Aug. 1, Weeden said.
The total loss is about$14,000.
The 16-year-old, a Washingtonville High School student, was arrested Wednesday.
He was charged with criminal possession of an assault rifle, criminal possession of a loaded firearm
and criminal possession of stolen property, all felonies. He was also charged with resisting arrest,
a misdemeanor.
Williams was arrested Friday and charged with criminal possession of an assault rifle,
criminal possession of a loaded firearm and criminal possession of stolen property, felonies.
Additional charges against both teens are pending.
They were sent to Orange County Jail – Williams in lieu of
$15,000 bail, the 16-year-old in lieu of $10,000 bail. A hearing is scheduled for Thursday in Town Court.
Weeden said the investigation is continuing and additional arrests are likely.
