Blooming Grove Reward now $3,000 in cat-killings case |
|
The reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons who killed four cats at the Blooming Grove Humane Society is now $3,000, according to Detective Brett Weeden of the Blooming Grove Police Department. In late October, someone broke into the cat enclosure at the shelter and killed four cats, including a kitten and a 5-year-old male that was brutally beaten. The Humane Society of the United States initially offered a $2,500 reward; in recent days, the New York State Humane Association has added $500, Weeden said. Police are investigating the case and interviewing people living next to the shelter, Weeden said. During the course of their investigation, Blooming Grove police arrested a 47-year-old man on a three-year outstanding warrant out of Westchester County, Weeden said. Norman Broadhurst was wanted in Mount Vernon for felony drug possession charges. Anyone with information about the cat killings should call Blooming Grove police at 496-9161. All names will be kept confidential. Maureen Nandini Mitra |
