Blooming Grove
7 Cats Back at Shelter, 2 Missing After Attack

Seven of nine cats missing from the Blooming Grove Humane Society Tuesday had returned to
the animal shelter by yesterday afternoon.
"They just showed up one at a time," said Ellen Federici, who runs the shelter. The returnees
included Scrunchie, the shelter's 10-year-old mascot. "She turned up very hungry and very tired.
She'll be very spoiled for the next couple of days," Federici said.
The phone was ringing non-stop at the shelter's office yesterday after news spread that
someone had broken into the cat enclosure Monday and killed four cats, including a 12-week-old
kitten and a 5-year-old male that was brutally beaten.
Volunteers searched the woods behind the shelter for the nine missing cats and found two. The
two cats still missing are Brawny, a 2-year-old black and white male, and Dasha, a 2-year-old
brown longhair female.

Blooming Grove police are still investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call 496-9161.
